The following organisations have collaborated in the masterclass: The Tarragona School of Art and Design (EADT), through a programme of grants for contemporary artistic projects, given by Euroregion Pirineus-Mediterrània, in the context of the workshop "The Image and the place", the SCAN 09 photographic festival, the Centre de Photographie de Lectoure, the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, Imatge Serena and the Maó School of Art.
Jordi Bernadó is interested in photography as a means of explaining the city, architecture and the contemporary landscape. His understanding of photography is that of a path to knowledge. His ambition and rigour in the decodification of his surroundings has translated into an extensive body of work, both personal and complex. Contradiction, absurdity, chance and irony are the elements that Jordi Bernadó plays with in order to illustrate what surrounds him.
The course is both theoretical and practical in nature, and analyses and looks at territory, understanding it from an artistic and contemporary perspective, as a combination of visions and dialogues meeting in the public sphere.
The masterclass is open to artists and professionals with experience in territorial photography, who will be selected through the presentation of a dossier of their work. Those interested in participating have until 14 April to present their portfolio and take up one of the fifteen available places. In accordance with the Euroregion subvention, some of the students signed up will receive a grant in order to carry out a project connected with territory, in one of the collaborating areas of the Euroregion project.
SCAN Cinema
In tandem with the course, two emblematic films related to the theme will be shown. Cinema has always been a great explorer of place, and the moving image dynamises and brings the subjective perception of territory nearer. The first of these films is Easy Rider, one of the greats of 1960s American cinema. It will be shown on Monday 11 May at 19h. Innisfree, by José Luís Guerín, is the second film and will be shown on Tuesday 12 May at 19h.
You will find more information about the cinema in SCAN in the section of the Program "Activities in the city".
