Production of Talent Latent
Between 1974 and 1994 Josep Rigol produced some thirty photographic exhibitions, both individual and collective, in Spain, France, England and the United States. He has also commissioned various exhibitions, the last of which have been “Carles Fontserè, City of Mexico” (2002), “Temps de Fotògrafs 1975-1985” (2003), as well as “FotoPres”, “Willy Ronis”, “One hundred years of sports photographs in Catalonia” and “The 1907 Pyrenees archaeological mission”, of the La Caixa Foundation (2006-2009). He has also been producer of the 2008 and 2009 editions of the Talent Latent exhibition, part of the SCAN photographic festival.
He was director of the Spanish edition of the French magazine Zoom (1976-1978) and was cofounder of Ajoblanco magazine (1974-1976). Editor and writer for the magazines Papel Especial (1977-1978) and 4-Taxis (1978-1985), he has also collaborated as photography critic on El Correo Catalán (1980-1984), Entertainment Guide (1982-1985), La Vanguardia and Avui (1982-1990).
He was director of the Procés Gallery (1976-1983) and of the Pentaprisma Gallery (1989-1980), secretary of Foto-FAD (1980-1981), coordinator of the Catalan Photography Conferences (1980), Secretary of the Catalan Photography Collective (1981-1982), founder and coordinator of Primavera Fotográfica (1982-2004) and founder and commissioner of the FotoPrés competition (1983-2009) of the La Caixa Foundation.
He was also coordinator of the White book of photographic heritage of Catalonia (1986) and documentalist of The Spanish Civil War, photographs for history (MNAC, 2002), Edited, exposed (MNAC, 2005) and Parallel Views. Neorealist Photography in Italy and Spain (MNAC, 2006), and coordinator of Contemporary Catalan Photography in Frankfurt (2007).
