Within the framework of the project “The image and the place”, the URV Aula de Cinema will screen two emblematic films: Easy Rider, by Dennis Hopper, and Innisfree, by José Luís Guerín.

Monday 11 May, 19 h Screening of Easy Rider, 1969. Dennis Hopper. 94’

One of the greats of North American cinema of the 1960s. Two young rebellious bikers from Los Angeles embark on a road trip to New Orleans, travelling south and trying to discover America. On the way they meet a group of strange and picturesque characters who in one way or another touch and transform their lives. Hopper received the First Film Award at the Cannes Film Festival for his work.

Tuesday 12 May, 19 h Screening of Innisfree, 1990. José Luis Guerín. 110’

“It all began during a visit to the places where 1951’s The Quiet Man was filmed. I entered a pub in a beautiful Irish village and heard four drunk old men talking about John Ford. In that moment I knew that here was the seed of a great film. That’s how the idea of “Innisfreee” was born”, explains director José Luis Guerín.

This year also at the library!

Public libraries are a wide, diverse, free spaces, full of knowledge and learning. Many of their users have restless, enquiring minds, and are not necessarily experts or professional artists. For this reason, the opportunity of presenting two of the SCAN conferences in the public library, a different domain to the normal, was not to be missed.

The two sessions that we offer are connected by the 'book' theme, which links the concept of photography with other cultural areas, in one case that of architectural photography, and in the other, literature and photography.

Photography workshop for children

Taller de fotografia per a nens
Organised by: tecletes

Venue: CaixaForum, Tarragona
Cristòfol Colom, 2
43001 Tarragona
Tel. 977 249 871

Workshop dates: Monday 11 and Friday 15 May at 18 h
Length: 1 h 15 min
For children aged 3-4, accompanied by their parents

Teachers:
Sílvia Iturria, professor of Photography at the School of Art and Design, Tortosa
Montse Veses, photographer and primary school teacher

The project consists of focusing on connecting the links between public and private spaces, and how young children perceive them.
The activity will be based upon a cardboard box, considered as a metaphor for an as yet uninhabited architectural space. A space that the children will inhabit with their own images.
This workshop illustrates the experimental character of photography, and offers a significant learning experience. Through the language of art as a vehicle of expression, children can construct their own personal world and develop their intuitive and imaginative abilities.
